Hurricane Isabel Fund For Feds

By Elizabeth Saloom, October 14, 2003

The Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA) is offering assistance to federal families who suffered losses during last month's Hurricane Isabel on the East Coast.

Civilian federal and postal employees affected by the storm can download an application from FEEA's Web site, www.feea.org. They can also call FEEA at 1-800-323-4140 or 303-933-7580 for information about grants and no-interest loans to help with shelter, cleanup, rebuilding and other expenses.

Donations to the fund may be made by mail, online on the Web site, or over the phone. FEEA is primarily funded through federal employee contributions by way of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and donations to special relief funds.

Since 1986, the FEEA Emergency Assistance Program has provided over $2.7 million in financial assistance to federal families affected by natural disasters, including floods, fires and hurricanes, and personal emergencies such as illness or a death in the family.
